I am in Timbuktu. One week ago I bought 100 Litres of deisel but I can not remember the exact price. It was a little more expensive than elsewhere in Mali, but not a lot. Sorry I can not remember the price. I will check on this in the next few days and post again.
I did not have any problem with buying diesel. There are atleast two gas stations, one was out of fuel, the other, in the center of town seemed perfectly happy to sell me deisel and I am pretty sure I did not pay more than the locals.
It is not unusual for gas stations in Mali to run out of fuel and if this happens one may be waved away without explaination.
There is, to put it politely, a lively sense of the comercial in Timbuktu so one could buy perhaps even a grand mother if the price were right.
