i didn't do it myself but a nice polish family we met in Egypt managed! i think he is not active on the forum and therefore i asked him for the info in an email. here it is:
Our route was easy :
from Cairo to Taba ( only border ) to Israel
Ferry Haifa ( Israel ) to Limassol ( Cyprus ) - every Thursday afternoon
Ferry Girne ( North Cyprus ) to Tasucu ( Turkey ) every day ( 12 ) and night ( 12 ) except weekends
it's 100% sure because those ships are always as in schedule whether full or empty
in Haifa You have to go to a an Agent Rosenfeld ( only agent for that ship )
Tel: +972-4-8613613 Fax: +972-4-8537002
haifa@rosenfeld.net
A. Rosenfeld Shipping Ltd., Israel
this ship stops in Limassol and then goes to Pireus in Greece
in Girne ( north Cyprus ) You just go to the port and buy tickets
We were forced by the Police to go in a convoy in Synai but it was free of charge
Now You will not believe this :
To exit Egypt in Taba : it took 30 minutes to give back the plates and do all formalities
cost around 30 Egyptian Pounds ( 26 for customs and 5 to return the plates ) And that is it !
No more costs and no need for a Fixer ! Easy.
on Israeli side you will have to remove EVERYTHING from your car/bike , they will scan all Your luggage
and take your car/bike to RTG. But all in nice atmosphere - nice girls work there :-) For us, no problem
although all together 4 hours to unpack/scan/repack our car.
They will ask You whether You left Your car/bike somewhere ( like we did in Sudan ) better say NO !
Once You are in Cyprus You have to go to Girne , there are several borders to the north ( occupied by Turkey )
site but the border is no problem ( you just need to buy the insurance for Your car/bike )
Remember to ask them for a Yellow customs paper for your car/bike - they will ask You to show it when you will be
entering the Girne port.
Cyprus is very nice also to camp near the beach especially on Turkish side - it's more wild than Greek side.
So the credits are for him. his site is in polish but he has some beautiful pictures --> krk4x4.pl
I know that this is not a solution for people going south but for people going north it i think is.
