Libyan visas
Eventually, I found a agancy (in Belgium)that is willing to provide me with an invitation but I have to buy a RETURN plane ticket to Libya (Tunisia is NOT OK).
So my question is: would it be possible to buy the ticket, get the visa, and then cancel the ticket (and holding the visa of course?) Do the Libyan visas mention if you arrive by air or by land?
(If you can't read Arabic, scan my your visa, I'll menage to read it!)
Thanks for youy conribution.

You'll still have the problem leaving Ras Ajdir without the now obligatory local entourage.

Tourist visa
You can get a tourist visa from a Libyan embassy.
I got mine in London.
I gave the Grand Hotel in Green Square as my address.
it is £65 per night there but "you do not have to stay there".
Crossing from Tunis to Libya they want to see a roll of cash.
What I did was had a roll of $1 notes with a $100 on the outside.
They did not count it.
You can get the visas forms online.
Hope that helps

When I entered Libya by air last year, the border officials had a list of every foreign tourist expected on that day's arrivals at the airport. (I'd also been sent a list - it wasn't very long).
If they're strict about that system, then if you try to enter Libya by a different route, you might have trouble getting past some border official who says "Sorry, you're not on my list for today..."
But that's a big if. And maybe the system has changed in the last year.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
