Question Port Said to Sharm el Sheik

Great site we are new here and in the planning process. Is it possible to drive there from Port Siad in a foreign vehical or are there restrictions on this side? We want to do some diving before driving down to Kenya. Planning to go in September.

No restrictions if your vehicle is already in Egypt on a carnet, We drove the opposite direction with no issues.

Many thanks Pumbba

We are deep in the planning and dreaming while keeping an eye on the political situation. We hope to get to Egypt in September to travel down to South Africa. Do you think the heat will be a problem then? We have travelled across Australia in our trusty Landrover in temp around 40
Many thanks again

the heat!

hello the windleys!

My wife and I are about to leave Cairo heading south. So are likely to encounter the peak heat. We can tell you what its like once we're the other side of the sahara if you'd like.

I think leaving it until September is probably a good idea, but it will still be pretty hot. We're hoping it will be bearable, but will have to wait and see. We've lived in Cairo for the last 3 years, and it's hasn't been as bad as we feared (especially given my scottish blood!).

Would be interested to hear from others about their views.

It would be great if you can let us know how you manage the heat and any tips for Egypt. We will probably be not be moveing from Egypt until early September. How was Egypt in August? Good luck on your trip,
Diana and Colin

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
