Europe to Egypt

Does anyone have info on bike travel to Egypt from Europe. I was thinking of getting from Gib to Morocco and then heading East. Obviously Libya is the difficult bit, but then I like a challenge. Please ONLY positive replies, I know this is a difficult trip, I dont need anyone pointing out the bleedin obvious. many thanks

The most bleedin obvious would be the infeasability of it, as borders between Morocco and Algeria have been firmly closed for a quarter century.
Libya is a no go at this time, although some really adventurous travellers may want to try. Besides the war in Libya, which may be nearing an end in Benghazi, the border with Egypt can be a very unpleasant experience.

There are other threads on the forum with actual recent crossings going to Egypt from Europe, so keep reading. You'll find everything there.

'pointing out the bleedin obvious'

If you're asking how to get to Egypt as an alternative to the north coast route from Morocco (not possible for well over 20 years) see post 1 - the Egypt index:

or this page linked from the index:

Sounds like a great trip - enjoy it. I'll be interested in how you get on. Presumably you've sorted a route from Morocco to Algeria?

Lake Nasser

The ferry is no more. All those who rode it be aware you are part of history. Tell your grand kids you made that uncomfortable but amazing trip.
They won't give a f**k of course and we may well have blown each other to pieces by then but I . for one, am proud to have done it. Peace.

As in the Aswan ferry? Is this because the road is open now?
Thanks,

Shipping out of Alexandria, Egypt

Hi All,

Has anyone had luck shipping out of Alexandria, Egypt in a container?

Do you have a good shipping agent you can recommend?

Thanks!

Yes, as Chris says, quite a few threads on this forum. But, from all accounts, a difficult, time-consuming, patience-sapping, and costly endeavour. But it seems it can be done.

Good luck with your research.

Although shipping out of Egypt must be easier than arriving that way, from what I've read I'd sooner RoRo out of Israel, via Jordan if necessary.

Rogues (ICYMI)

It's been done already as 'Rogue Warriors' in 2017 (off the same Ben Mac book), but a new SAS origins / Libyan Desert series on BBC: 'Rogue Heroes'.
