Tours in Egypt's Sahara
We are interested in a 10-15 day tour in Egypt's Sahara (Sewa, Great Sand Sea, Gilf Kebir, Jebel Uweinat, other oases, etc.). Would appreciate any suggestions on good and not good tour companies, prices, routes, etc.

Check out http://fjexpeditions.virtualave.net for detailed info. As I have a vested interest, I'd leave comments as to quality to impartial outsiders. ChrisS ?
We're fairly fully booked till fall 2002, but there might be cancellations.
I know of two local operators who manage reasonably good tours, in quite differing styles. Zarzora Expeditions ( www.zarzora.com - they have probably the superior knowledge and logistics, but their style and programmes are quite inflexible), and Pan Arab Tours ( www.moussa.net/pat/ - a pleasant easygoing owner, very flexible but their expereince is limited)
Let me know if I can be of any more help, am contactable on ma_pto@euroweb.hu

Like Zarzora, Sahara Pioneer ( www.saharapioneer.com ) is a very good option. The company is led by Raed Baddar, a long time rally racer and environmentalist and knows Egypt like the back of his hand. I wouldn’t bother with anybody else in Egypt besides those two. I know the owners and have seen their operation and they are first class.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
