travel with a pup in Maroc

Hi a couple of days ago my pup was born.
Xmas/newyear we planned a trip to Maroc.

Option 1 is to leave him 2 weeks longer with his mom
Option 2 is to take him with us.

Is it doable to get it into Maroc and anyone experience with this?

Cheers

The official way is to get a form from defra.gov.uk to get an export certificate confirming the animal has a rabies vaccination, but then there's a six-month quarantine on return.

Yes. I understand it's because Morocco is outside the area covered by the PETS scheme (http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/index.htm).

I don't know whether there are any meaningful checks coming back into Spain if you understand what I'm getting at.

Also many UK ports don't have customs checks any more, Dieppe - Newhaven crossing is one example.

After a reported Rabid dog being brought out of Morocco and into France, via Spain, I have noticed large posters up at the border [Ceuta] warning about animal importation. Not connected [more looking for illegal people] but most vehicles entering Ceuta from Morocco seem to be "looked in".

I suppose it depends on how of a risk you are willing to take in loosing your pup.

Pup in Moroc

Leave the dog with its mother as you need a load of inoculations and a pet passport to pass through Europe and to get in and out of Ceuta

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
