Travelling from Libya to The Sudan
So I've been told that its possible to Cross from Libya into The Sudan (via the Alkofra border). So thats good. Should be interesting.
I'm also aware of the fact there is a Sudanese embassy in Tripoli.
Is anyone aware if its possible to get a visa there?
Has anyone done this before?
Does anyone have any advice at all please about the visa or the border crossing?
cheers
Ian

is that some clueless embassy official talking or some traveller who has actually done it? - if the latter they will have been the first ones in years to get through (legally). I find it rather unlikely as getting from Kufra to Uweinat (the actual border) can be hard enough for permission. However I did meet a guy recently who had an impression that it might possibly be arranged, though not in the regular "turn up and pass through" fashion.

Bus
Hello,
I worked with Sudanese people in Tripoli. They often got a bus from Tripoli to Kufra and then into Sudan and reverse.I regulary met them at the main bus station. There was never anyone else on the bus bar Sudanese people.
Its one way to get there, but I can imagine you would stick out far to much and would be stopped at border.I wonder how many forigners might taken this bus??.Maybe none!!!.
I can imagine it would be an decent trip, with alot of hassells.Visa would probably produce problems too.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
