Hello Budrinna,
In what way is the procedure different now than before ? It was always necessary to stop and get a permit at the border police in Kufra to proceed further south. My best time was about 15 minutes that involved a very friendly chat and a cup of tea, the worst was three days involving plenty of raised voices...
All the best

Indeed the procedure is quite the same , but the Ok is now not granted to everybody as time and the situation undergoing recently in the area ( also from Egyptian side) are much different from before and the valuations are also differents.

trips to El Ewynat & Gilf kebir
Just advised that trips directed to El Ewynat , Gilf kebir and Murzuk sand sea will be not authorized for the month of August up to the end of Holy Ramadan period, this for safety reasons . Very hot and two accidents occured last week
From next year the period will be extended for the months of July & august.and for the same purpose.

Budrinna,
Would you know wether the Jalo - Kufra road had been re-surfaced south of Tazerbo junction, or it is still in the dismal cracked and corrugated state ?

Hi
Last time we travelled there by car , at least two years ago road was in poor same condition .
Going to kufra and Ewynat's area we now use private flies from Maitika or Bu Attifel so not able to answer . For our job now unusefull to waste time and also at the end less expensive.

Similar restrictions of those recently adopted by Aegyptian under 23 are to be followed also by libyan authorithies in the area south of Kufra with the presence of less miltaries ( Talking of four in one car now ) but plus a specialist of antiquities dept. to avoid free researches as mostly conducted by irregular scientific teams , now also resident in the country. Soon more in the local press.
