Urgent help required - Agadir

We are stuck in Agadir with a cracked chain on an Aprilia Pegaso 650 with a yamaha engine and unable to find any help to replace the chain. It has already caused damage to the engine casing but this is being managed. Does anyone know of any localish places to get a new chain as the existing one is irreperable.

Any help would be really appreciated, thanks

Hey,

I snapped the chain on my XT (same engine as the Aprilia I think) in Turkey and found that the little Yamaha/Honda 125s (common in the third world) use chains of the same link length (525?) although they are obviously a lot thinner and not as strong. However, one of these chains got me from Eastern Turkey to Istanbul. If you do use one of these little chains, go easy, and rivet it together, do not use a split link.

Matt

Mats answer makes sense.... i did the same in India. Once bodged you will probably need to head up to Cassablanca or Rabat where i am sure you could get a propper replacement for it.
Good luck

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
