Visa for Algeria

Hi all,

Please be patient with me on this, I have read several posts.

I am travelling from Morocco to The Gambia then across to Mali/Niger before heading North through Algeria. Is it possible to get a Visa for Algeria in any of these countries or should I apply for this prior to leaving the UK? (I leave Dec 22nd)

I have read that I will need an invitation or a hotel reservation. I am planning on staying in Tam for 3/4 days and taking a local guide to show me round. Several people have mentioned Claudia......I am probably being blind here but I am unable to find her contact address or her agency name, can someone please post the info or link for me?

Any hotel recomendations for Tam? Not too expensive please.

Oh yes, there is confusion on the need for a guide from the Niger/Algeria border to Tam. Will this be a case of turning up and see what the rules are on the day, or arrange one before hand thru hotel/Claudia?

Thank you in advance

Hello ThePrincessAbroad,

how do you travel? By car?

And yes, you will need a guide from the border to Tam.

Hello Yves

I will be travelling by motorbike.

"And yes, you will need a guide from the border to Tam." ---- Any idea how much this will cost and do I need to arrange before I get to the border or I can I find one near the border?

Cheers
Princess

Be prepared, with a guide in his own car it won't be cheap.

You might want to consider using this board to try and find other travellers to share the guide...

Hi princess,

I'm traveling on a bike as well, coming up from South Africa, heading to Nigeria and Niger. Would love to join you if possible.
When do you recon you'll be in Agadez?

Safe riding,
Adam

Hello Adam,

I reckon we should be at Agadez around the 2nd of Feb, if all goes well, touch wood - (Ouch!! head hurts now) ;-)

We can also take extra time getting there if need be.... Date is not set in stone.

Hi,

That sounds good.
I have more or less the same dates in my mind.
Where do you want to go after Tam?

Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam,

we will be heading on up to Algiers and the North coast for a couple of days then on to Spain/France and back to our home in the UK.

How about yourself?
