shipping bikes

I would send this guy a email as he sends bikes back and forth each year. I have no connection to him but I rented from him in Germany and I think he can help you.

I once flew my bike from Gatwick to Vancouver by Air Transat in 2002, then back from Toronto to Gatwick. Yes it was expensive but I can put you in touch with the shippers if you change your mind.

In that case have you tried Wallenius Wilhelmsen Line? They have an office here in Southampton (0230-637233) and I used them in 2006 to ship my bike to Newark NJ. I believe they not only sail to the East Coast but also the west too. I dealt with Tony White then.

Oops, I've just found their New Jersey details -

I believe that Wallenius Wilhelmsen ship to Seattle, I'm not sure that they go as far as Vancouver. I was planning a transamerica bike ride a few years ago (Sadly, technically still in the planning stage). At the time Wallenius Wilhelmsen had regular shipping that went down the East Coast and then up the West Coast to LA and sometimes (but not always) onwards to Seattle.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
