Alberta/BC trip : dealer info ?
I'm looking to coming back to the Canadian Rockies ; this time we would like to evaluate the idea of buying 2 to 4 dual sport bikes like DRZ400, KLR etc and the resell them after a month and approx. 7500-9000 kms.
Any advice about dealers ? the rental way seems not possible - lack of adequate bikes and high mileage costs

No problem buying good bikes from a dealer. Reselling of course would have to be negotiated. Vancouver area or Kamloops would both be good. Kamloops is very small in comparison to Vancouver, with limited dealers, but lots of off-road sales.
I can point you to a few dealers if needed. Just decide what you want!
Remeber ther is a big hit on selling near new bikes. What do the approximate mileage costs and rental costs come to?

Note that Alberta will be 7 1/2% cheaper right up front - no Provincial Sales Tax. GST (VAT) of 7% in both. You MIGHT be able to get the GST refunded, but there are all sorts of rules and limits. You'll have to check it out carefully.

Try Blackfoot Motorsports in Calgary, they are one of the biggest dealerships in Western Canada and are really good to deal with. I've heard of other foreign travellers arranging a buy & sellback deal with them.

You can try www.buysell.com
Pro-Am Cycle in Calgary usually has a good selection of used KLR's ( www.pro-am.ca)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
