Can I ship my used motorcycle from Japan to Canada?
Hello everyone.
I need your help.
Have you ever shipped your motorcycle from other countries, such as European contries, Australia and so on within 2 or 3 years?
And, how much did it cost to get your motorcycle in Canada side.
(Port fee, custom clearance, insurance...etc)
I'm planning to ship my motorcycle from Japan to Canada next month though,
I'm not sure whether I can import my motorcycle which is under 15 years old into Canada.
According to Canada low, Car which is under 15 years old is not allowed import into Canada, but I doubt it that I's permanent importing.
Since I will travel from Canada to Chilli or Brazil, I want to ship is into Canada as temporary importing. (At most, I'll be in Canada within 2months)
If possible, I want to use my motorcycle for my traveling because I crossed the Eurasian Continent and Africa Continent with my motorcycle last year.
(It was great experiences!)
I want to keep using it.
I'm looking forward to hear from you.

I don't know the detials that you want, but I can tell you that many people do temporary import of motorcycles. The age of your bike shouldn't be a problem for temporary import.
Carnet is not necessary for Canada either.
If you want to meet other motorcycle travelers, there is a meeting in Yamanashi this weekend.
Somebody there may have more up-to-date information about shipping from Japan to Canada.

Hi Chris.
Thank you so much for your reply.
I'm relieved to hear that I can bring my motorcycle regardless the ages.
Actually,I'd like to know the details about the procedure of importing into Canada by RoRo ship(Cost in Canada side, the company for custom clearance, documents I have to hand in, matters to be attended to...etc).
Therefore, as you said,I could join the meeting in Yamanashi if I had my motorcycle, but my motorcycle's engine is under the maintenance until next weekend. Umm..

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
