Place to leave the bike for 2 months - West Coast
Hi to everybody !
I am going to ship my bike from Belgium to DC. The idea is to spend 6 weeks now and two months in August / September. I was thinking that it would make more sense to ride to the West Coast, say LA or San Francisco, take a plane back to DC (where my girlfriend is) and do the reverse in August.
Any ideas as to where I could leave the bike for two months (June / July) ? Would a dealer do that, for a price ? The bike is a 1150GS.
Any tip will be much appreciated !
Cheers, be safe,
Laurent

I can offer storage in Southwest Washington. Send me a PM if you are interested and I will provide details.

Bike storage
I live in San Diego and I have plenty of space in my garage if its useful for you.
I'm confident you'll feel safe leaving your bike in my house.

Hi and thanks a lot for the generous offers. The trip has changed since the shipping agent basically let me down right before my departure (it's my uncle, so I trusted him and, for example, assumed that he knew that I wanted to have my bike in the US at roughly the same time that I was there, not when I was back in Brussels - duh).
So I have bought a used KLR650 In Chicago. I am going to fly there on Monday and will start the trip. Got to figure things out with my girlfriend as I don't think she'll appreciate long distances on that bike.
I'll give you a call as soon as I know more. But I really appreciate the offers. Sorry for the late response but I don't have access to the internet easily.
Cheers, be safe !

I can also offer a place to leave it near L.A. A few bikes in the garage already, so one more makes no difference. Send PM if you are still planning on the same thing, just with the Chicago bike.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
