Reputable mechanic/workshop for F800GS S.California?

Hello,

I've just ridden my F800 GS from New York up to Prudhoe Bay then south to a foggy California. Before I cross into Mexico & continue southwards I want to treat the bike to a full service.

Any recommendations? The bike is out of warranty so it doesn't have to be an authorised BMW dealer. Plus I'm free to ride to pretty much anywhere within the state so location isn't a problem either, though southern California would be better.

Any assistance appreciated.

I don't know of any really good independent shops in SoCal that can do F800's but I'm sure there are a few around.

But I would go to local BMW forums here or on ADV Gspot forum and BMWMOA web site. These guys will know about independent shops and can most likely steer you right. Dozens of choices.

What I do know is that there are many BMW dealers all throughout SoCal.
I have been to Brown Motor Works and back when I owned BMW's they had a good reputation. So plenty of dealers and probably some good independents too.

There are BMW dealers in Santa Barbara, Ventura, SF Valley, Hollywood, L.A., South Bay and San Diego, to name just a few areas.

Good luck

Went to Irv Seaver BMW in Orange, CA & would recommend them highly. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. They know their stuff & the customer service is excellent.

If you're passing through on the Pan Am riding a BMW they are well worth a visit.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
