Tourance Tyres

The bike is on its way to Baltimore but I will need a rear Tourance for my BMW R1200GSA immediately on arrival. Can anyone point me in the direction of a dealer/fitter in the area, preferably south Baltimore?

Thanks.

Try this place. Never been, but close by and a fairly well known shop.

Bob's BMW : Contact Us - BMW Motorcycles, Parts, Accessories, Apparel - BMW, motorcycles, motorcycle, dealer, dealers, part, parts, used parts, new, used, vintage, apparel, accessories, clothing, catalog, service, restoration, Maryland, BMW apparel,

If you are used to changing your own tires, or are on a budget, you can order one on-line, have it shipped to a P.O. box for pickup and then change it yourself. Don't know how easy to do on a GSA but on most bikes pretty straighforward and good practice in case you ever really need to perform your own tire change.

Hi Petcul

Can't help with the tyres but can give a little pointer about what happened to us clearing our two 1200GS's through Baltimore from Southampton in April. Bear in mind our bikes were on a RO-Ro not a container.

Firstly, we went to the customs office in Gay Street, Inner Harbour to get customs clearance but they told us that the port customs had moved in a cost saving exercise to the airport. I don't know if you know Baltimore at all but the airport is a good few miles from the port. We pleaded with the guys there and a long serving officer came to see us and sorted out the paperwork with the magic red stamp after making a couple of phone calls but it may be that you will have to clear customs at the airport.

The other obstacle that has to be overcome is that to collect the bike from the dockside you have to go dockside with an escort - there are plenty to choose from and cost around $60 and hour - our one was good enough to pick us up from our hote; and take us to the port where it took around an hour or so to get the bikes - IMPORTANT - make sure that you don't arrive at the port too late in the morning - the office shuts at 11.30am and reopens at 2pm so if you are dockside with your escort and haven't finished your paperwork then you have to pay for the escort to sit around for a couple of hours.

Our bikes have just left Seattle bound for Vladivostok and we are flying to Vlad next week from Vancouver BC

Thanks guys. I'll follow up the contact and yes, I'd heard about similar problems at Baltimore/New York.
