Average trip cost. UK - Magadan via Turkey, Mongolia..
I was wondering if I could afford this on what I can muster together for an April/May 2014 leave date. I could scrape £7000 together. I want to take 6 months. I have bike and equipment. The £7000 would be for visas, fuel, food accommodation and shipping...
Is it doable without having to reuse tea bags and sleep in silage ditches ???
I don't want to rack up credit card debt... :/
Cheers all
Ted

Fuel is cheap in Russia and Mongolia, if you plan on camping then you will be ok. Hotels can be cheapish in Russia but some of the ones I stayed in were more dirty than sleeping in my bike gear unless you pay a lot.
How are you going to get back from Magadan? that will be the most expensive part of the trip.

You should just manage. I tend to budget about 65 quid a day all up including transport. You will manage on less.

Ted
Let's have a chat at Danny's do at Haggs Bank in September. You're going aren't you? Much easier than composing words of wisdom on my phone here in rainy Ulaan Baatar.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
