Flying bikes into UB Mongolia
Has anybody flown bikes into UB Mongolia before?
Need to get a few bikes over from Australia next year. Any suggestions on air freight carriers?
Thanks in advance

Ah, well I flew OUT of UB not into
I flew from Oz to Frankfurt and rode to UB
The chap we used in UB is mainly an importer and only exports bikes as a sideline
I would have to go back though my blog to find the details but cans do if you want me to?

I live in Bisbane but originally from Mongolia. I'm going to have Mongolia and Magadan trip in July. I have shipped 2 bikes to Mongolia last Month.
There is always someone who is looking to share the container cost to Mongolia. Sea freight, goes from OZ to China Tainjin on seafreight than by train to UB. (average 5-8 of 20-40 ft containers shipped every year, just private people).
I can keep you updated with the info in regards next container to Mongolia etc...
Cheers,
van

After researching bike transport TO Mongolia in the recent past, I gave it up as a bad job/joke and tagged along with some people shipping to Almaty in Kazakhstan instead. A couple of relevant threads to help your research are at

All the very best of luck. You'll need it! If you get bikes in at the airport, please share you experiences here.
cheers
Chris

Thanks guys for the replies.
Van-I hadn't thought of going that route but I really like the idea. Can you let me know how you get on as I would be interested. Any chance you could send me the agent you used from Brisbane? Thanks in advance
Chris-Yes its giving me a headache trying to figure something out so starting to search a bit wider. Looking at airfreight to Novosibirsk but ?Almaty is a great idea so will check out the links you sent. Thanks again.
Will post any useful info as I get it

Ok progress. We have found a company called Cargo Master based in Australia who are happy to send the bikes to UB mongolia. However what happens when they arrive they have no control over so that will be up to us.
Air Freight, Freight Forwarders, International Freight, Sea Freight, Sameday Air Freight, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide,Hobart | CargoMaster | The Smart Choice
Does anybody have a useful contact at the Airport in UB that might be able to help us?
Will hopefully manage to get an interpreter via Oasis Guest House

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
