Hi Doosey,

I generally do the trip most years! Got your PM but can not reply, if you send me your mail address I will send a message back.
Keep me posted and the dates might tie in with work etc.
Cheers,
Mike

thats a good question, i have a lot of friends and family out there, Atyrau is a must do, Kulsary to see some of the local guys i worked with(last time that meant lots of food and vodka and trying to ride camels) Taraz to see the inlaws and of course Almaty, other than that no real concrete plans, open to suggestions

FWIW, have a look at the Kazakhstan section of my website - might give you some ideas.

overlandcruiser.net

But my problem was that I was essentially flying blind in Kaz. I thought my Central Asia guidebook covered Kaz and only found out that it didn't on the same day I was due to cross from Omsk. I well remember my frantic chase around all the bookshops in Omsk, trying to find an English-language guidebook for Kaz! Am quite sure I could have seen a lot more of Kaz.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
