Kyrg most current on the ground information
We will be entering Kyrg around July 10 (Currently in Baku). As the various individuals and groups travel thru Kyrg can you please post most recent, on the ground, information? I understand that the situation will always be in a great state of flux, but any travelers information is valuable. What are the options for traveling around Osh and Jalalabad. I see some roads East of town, but the level of detail I have is pretty limited.

Hi,
I wonder if people on place have really an overview. Just the day after the night the riots started there was a reply in a forum from Jalalabad, that the situation is calm, and that they haven't perceived anything about the riots (that have been there several! weeks ago).
In the news it is stated, that the state of war has been declared for the south, that means police is allowed to fire without advance warning. It seems, that Kirgyz people from around tried to get into Osch to enforce their people.
It seems also, that the riots where not only in Osch, but also in neighbour districts (Uzgen).
When I passed there last year, I already wanted to avoid Osch, so I took the road from Gultscha over Kara Kuldscha/Uzgen to Dschalalabad. Originally I wanted to take a road, that should have led to the east, to omit Jalalabad, but what is in the map does not always exist in reality.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
