Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan - Need transport through China

Hi,

We're 2 motorcyclists/2 bikes and currently stuck in Osh. We had arranged all the paperwork for Torgurat Pass (and paid a deposit of 500 Euro to our agent for that). But thanks to the Kashgar bombings 3 weeks ago, the Chinese closed Torgurat Pass.

We're now looking into options of getting through China, or bypassing it.

- Has anyone got any current info about putting the bikes on a truck from Irkeshtam Pass to Khunjerab Pass?
- What about flying from Bishkek to Islamabad. Does anyone have any recommendations about which airline / freight agent to use here in Kyrgyzstan? And the costs involved?

Thanks a lot!
Bjorn

Go to the Bishkek airport and talk to the guys who are delivering Indian stuff...they're probably flying back empty...same goes for Air China cargo, if they service.

Dodgy Dago found a dirt cheap flight between Bishkek and India for he and his bike...May 2007.

Hi MotoEdde,

Can you please fill me in a bit more about what Dodgy Dago did? Have you got his contact details or any forther info about who he used in Bishkek?

Things in China are so bad at the moment, it's completely uncertain when it will be possible to do Kashgar / Xinjang again on a bike. They say maybe after October 10th this year, but no one knows.

Bjorn,
He went to the airport in Bishkek and talked to some of the guys handling cargo. There's a regular flight from India that unloads cargo and flies back empty. He caught a ride with them on the cheap...for a few hundred Euro...I helped him pack, and off he went. He didn't even have to crate up his bike...they just tied it into the back...

DodgyDago is a HUBB member...PM him for details...he might have a phone number of the guy he dealt with at Bishkek airport.

HTH

flying from Bishkek to Delhi or Islamabad

Hi Bjorn,
I flew from Manas to Delhi with the bike.
The contact at the airport is an agent called Farhad. Runs Farhad Air Cargo. The airline is Galaxy Air but I dont think I have any contacts. the telephones I have for Frahad are: mobile 0502321919 and Mana or Bishkek 693772.
I printed a few more contact and alternatives in an eralier post of yours.
Email me if you need more info.
Also, you can repair your spring in Almaty if that is an option.
Good luck, I hope this helps and is not late.
Fernando

Fantastic!

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for this! If Farhad can sort out another deal like this, it'd be a dream come true. We're actually 3 bikes in total here in Bishkek at the moment, and if there is a cheap flight to India, Farhad would have 3 happy biker customers... I'll try to get in touch with him first thing on Monday morning.

As for the rear shock: Spare part actually arrived (UPS) in Bishkek - although I had it ordered to Osh. Had to ride from Osh to Bishkek with a broken shock, in order to sort out customs clearance myself. And now it's STILL held in customs. Well done, UPS - I shall never use them again!

Hey DodgyDago - Sent you a PM again (Thought I'd mention it here, in case you're not logged in whilst away from home).
