Mongolia Wet Season -July too late?
Trying to determine the best time to cross Mongolia from East to West
Was thinking of starting in Vladivostok in the 3rd week of June which would see me in Mongolia in the first 2 to 3 weeks of July
Finding conflicting information on whether this would be the wet season
Would I be better off earlier in June?

Where in Mongolia do you want to go?
There's no real 'wet season' in Mongolia, it has a highly continental climate, though in general the rain comes in the summer. So if you're trying to avoid the odd swamp or high river in the north, you're better off in late summer, but I would not plan my trip around it. At worst you might have to make a bit of a detour.

Thanks for the reply mate.
In short, crossing Mongolia east to west.
Planning to enter at the Ereentsav border and head towards UB, and from there, based on weather conditions, hopefully continue along the central route towards Tosontsengel and out the border to the west to move on into KZ
I had also thought there wouldn't really be a wet season but some Google-ing led me to read some reports of July and August being wet in general
So, if later in summer the better, I think I'll stick with July and just work around whatever comes my way. Can't really leave it much later as it'll eat into time for the Stans

Few years ago I drove the central and northern route in July and it was very very dry. No rain for a few weeks. Looking at the terrain I suspect earlier is wetter.
