Teo,
I saw on your Facebook that you have troubles because you do not have a valid Italian license nor an International Driving Permit (IDP).
I will skip the lecture on going to another country without the proper driving documents....
You have only two solutions:
Get an IDP from West Australia where you say you have a license
or wait until May when your valid Italian license arrives and have that sent to you.
So, send in your application or arrange to have your license sent to Japan, and wait out the 'Golden Week' holidays. Traffic is terrible now anyways!
For anyone coming to Japan, you need an IDP unless you have a driver's license issued in France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, or Taiwan. For those countries, the automobile club (JAF) can issue a license translation that is valid for driving in Japan.
A "temporary license" or other document to replace a lost license is not acceptable.
You can, of course, always ride without a license. But you are screwed if you get caught. Driving without a license is punishable by up to one year in jail (usually just a hefty fine).
