Siberia-Baikal lake
People said that in this area there are much mosquitos. Is there any health risk. Is it necessary to get vaccination?

Yes, there are many mosquitos in Siberia and part of Far-East Russia. But not to many around Lake Baikal. Try to avoid getting bit! Bring lots of mosquito repellent. I had the most problems when bush camping (setting up tent in full riding gear with helmet on, and not taking off the helmet until in the tent).
Some people have traveled in the are and sail they had no problems. So, it depends on the season, I guess.

Lots and lots of mossies! But a good DEET repelent seems to keep them at bay. They seem to like dark colours more than light ones as well.

Mosquitoes it is valid much, but I can precisely tell that their stings though are unpleasant but do not bear with itself of serious danger.

Beeln to Baikal a couple of times, and its bad earlier in the season there... May is probably the worst of it.
In July, August, September there really wasnt a mosquito issue at all. All very normal.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
