Tyres in Yakutsk

Is there anywhere I could buy a set of TKC 80's in Yakutsk? 18 and 21 inch.

I've been in touch with Denis Dean Panferov (101% recommended!) but he needs three weeks to get them there, presumably from Moscow, which is too late for me. I'm currently awaiting his reply as to additional cost for a faster freight service.

I looked online but didn't see anything, your best bet is probably to contact one of the bikers out there, there is a moto club, maybe they've got a private stash. Anything you find locally will probably be low-quality chinese stuff.

I don't have any contact info any more, but here is a link to the "Old School" moto club in Yakutsk, there are some contact e-mails there: http://www.oldschool-mc.com/

Russian guy found me some in Irkutsk, which suggests I should do the BAM :-)

Any way you go, its a fair long way from Yakutsk to Irkutsk with worn tires; the Lena highway is the only place I have gotten a flat tire, and I got two of them on the same day. I hope you have a pump and some patches!

...and do not go on the BAM with outworn Tyres, you will stuck. We arrived Tynda yesterday and since yesterday afternoon we got heavy rain here. So BAM will be full of puddles and muddy for the next days, although the river crossings could be hard because of more water in them.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
