Wakhan Corridor, Tajikistan
I want to travel the Pamir Hwy in August. Does anybody know how the road is in the Wakhan Valley?

Wrong section, you need Northern Asia where you will find this http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...y-khorog-68502 Which I hope is helpful.
Welcome by the way seeing this is only your third post.

Road is twisty, mostly tarmac between Khorog to Langar (80 percent tarmac). Not so bad at all. After Langar no tarmac to M41, gravel road but no special difficulties, one or two streams - that's all. I was there many times. Last time vith a van - Iveco daily, so you can imagine dificulties.
After Khargush a bit steep, some stones on the road but still easy.
See you in Pamir this year! Inshallah!

With any sense of "adventure" and an appetite for beauty - ride the Wakhan.
Fantastic.
Can't wait to go back this year.

Hi
Wakhan is probably the usual way, tourists cross the Pamir. I've been twice, but never used the normal Highway from Khorog to Alichur. Great views to Afghanistan in the Wakhan. Buy the Gecko Map for Pamir, it's probably the best map for the region.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
