Yugyd Va national park - Komi republic

Hi,

Anyone visited Yugyd Va national park ? Is it possible to get there or do we need to organise a trip through a travel agency from Ukhta or Syktyvkar?
Is it worth riding all the way to Ukhta as well?

Very hard to find any info online... My travel guide cover only main towns south of Ural but not Komi. We will get there in a couple of weeks max ( currently in St Pete) so any advice of what to see, ride, in Komi, most welcome....

Not hiking to Manpupuner as we are reluctant to leave bikes behind and poor state of my ankles won't take it ( one too many motorcycle accidents).

EO you went all around, there your thoughts most welcome!

Thanks,

Maria

Yugyd Va would be glorious, but it would take time and boats to get up the Pechora or Ilyich.

I didn't stop in Ukhta, but waited for a train connection in nearby Sosnogorsk. Really no reason to go there, unless you fancied leaving your bikes in locked parking and taking the train up to Vorkuta.

Otherwise, there is not much accessible in Komi by road; Syktyvkar is not really worth visiting.... but the road there from Kotlas is very nice.

If you were there in winter....

EO

Thanks EO.

We will definitely ride up to Syktyvkar, if only as you said, because the road there should be rather interesting. We will come via Kotlas.

And we will follow the little road you showed on another post with pictures, up to the highway toward Arkhangelst .... I got lots of good ideas from your posts! Thanks again for sharing !

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
