2013 Honda CRF 250 L
Yes, I am riding a 250 from Lima, Montana to Lima, Peru and taking plenty of detours so far. I am in Denton, Texas having made a 4000 mile loop which included: Great Falls, Montana to Lima, Montana almost all paved, Lima through Idaho some dirt roads, Windy Walla Walla Way and up to Seattle, down the 101 to LA over to Texas and up the third world grade I-20. Heading south through Matamoros soon. So far the Honda has been a champion especially in the draft of big trucks. El Paso to Midland was easy but some of the road between Midland and Denton was ...a little bit of hell thanks to the crappy road surface, wind and rain. Enjoying the buzz. Lots of buzz.

Hope the ride's going well, Ron.
I like the idea of the CRF-L for travelling too: fast enough, light and economical. Cheap too for what it is and not too small for me.
I did a 200-mile test ride on one a few weeks ago in the UK and have just bought a used one in the US to ride around the Southwest and then bring back for the desert.
Plan to make it the new AMH long term project bike following the GS-R, BMW, Tenere and so on.
Four months later...
Bought one in AZ, did a 3000 mile trip and sold it.
MHO here with plenty more pix and impressions linked off that page.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
