4x4 Overland Truck For Sale
Hi,
My family of four (me, the wife and two boys, 5 & 9) are coming to the end of our 7 month trip around southern Africa and so are sadly selling our fabulous truck which has carried us faithfully all the way. Manfred, as he is affectionately known, is a 1960's ex-German army truck, fully converted to a comfortable home that will go pretty much anywhere. Full details and pictures are available here: 4x4 Overland Truck For Sale
In a previous life he used to be a support vehicle for motorbikes doing the Paris-Dakar route, so he has an affinity for motorbikes. The truck will be available in Johannesburg, South Africa from the beginning of Feb '08.
Cheers,
Mark

Lovely TrucK
Did you get a quote to ship to the UK? I'm guessing because of the size, not cheap.....

Shipping
Haven't investigated myself, but a German guy I spoke to in Mozambique was pretty confident it would be 2000-3000 EUR from Cape Town. He knows a good shipping company there that he's used a couple of times to ship his Land Rover. I can chase this up with him via email if you like.

Wow! this brings back some memories – I drove one of these UK to Cape Town and back in ’92 /93. Best truck for Africa I have ever come across – by a very, very long way… good luck in selling it.

Tasty looking truck - I've forwarded your link to someone looking at crossing Africa in a truck.

Manfred
Hi,
Does anyone know where Manfred is resting, I’ve been looking at this truck for the last ten years and think he would be awesome to overland travel in with fam.
If anyone has a leed they could pass on of a previous owner as we would love to track him down to live out some new adventures.
Cheers

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
