Expedition Ready 1980 Land Rover Series III For Sale in London (reg. South Africa)
If you are contemplating a trans-Africa overland expedition, this post is for you!
We are offering for sale a Land Rover Series III 1980 (right-hand drive, 4-speed manual, 2.25l engine).
We acquired and built out this vehicle for an expedition from South Africa to London. The trip is planned to come to a close in the mid-August and, at that point, we'll be looking for a future home for our trusty Landy.
The vehicle (her name is Wilma) is in a great condition for its age. The car has been very well maintained by the previous owners (doctor in Cape Town, then a traveler from Belgium, and now us). There is very little rust on the body, interior has no rips, all the switches, sensors and dashboard lights work as they should.
The vehicle is fully kitted out for an overland trip anywhere in the world for 4 people. And when we say fully, we mean it - from the rooftop tents to the silverware and spare parts. After all, we are using it right now to cross 25,000km across Africa.
Here are some of the things that are included:
EXPEDITION-READY:
* Roof rack
* 2 roof top tents (comfortably fit 2 people each; mattresses included)
* 2 additional fuel tanks (70 liters each; for a total capacity of 220 liters)
* 80l Engel fridge/freezer
* Custom built shelving and drawers system + 9 storage containers
ELECTRICAL
* Dual Battery System (1 reg. car battery; 1 deep-cycle battery to power the fridge)
* 50 Watt solar panel
* 800 Watt inverter
COOKING:
* 4 jerry cans for water (100 liters total)
* 2-burner stove and 3kg gas bottle
* Camping table and chairs
* All of the cooking utensils (pots, pans, etc.) and cutlery you'll need
RECOVERY KIT:
* Compressor
* 2 hydraulic jacks
* 2 spare tires
* 2 sand ladders
* Complete recovery kit
MISCELLANEOUS:
* Garmin GPS with worldwide street level maps
* Custom-made side awning (to provide much-needed shade in the sun)
* Solar shower
* Bullbar
* Auxiliary lights
FOR REPAIRS:
* All of the tools you will need (from screwdrivers to tow rope)
* Majority of the spare parts that you'll need (we got one of pretty much everything as a spare before we left). The little things add up!
VEHICLE SPECS:
* Reconditioned motor with expected 110,000km in August
* Improved suspension for the extra weight
* 4 brand-new Pirelli tires installed in Dar es Salaam in June
All in all, the vehicle will be ready to go wherever you want to take it!
We are currently enroute to UK from South Africa (already in Egypt). We will be arriving to London by mid-August and will have the vehicle available for sale then.
If you're interested, please email me at boris@mordkovich.com and we can discuss the details.
See WeGoingUp.com | 22,000km Expedition From Cape Town to London for more details on the current journey of the vehicle.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
