One owner, very low miles, overland special. I bought the 90 XS new from Southampton LR in 2012. It came with the usual XS extras, ABS, immobiliser, heated seats, heated front screen, electric windows, A/C and traction control 6 speed gearbox etc. Waxoyled from new, ZERO rust. All doors, bulkhead and under capping’s are rust proofed with cavity wax every summer and ACF50 is used on everything!
Since owning the Landrover it has developed, over time and with experience into an extremely capable and comfortable overland vehicle, evolving into one of the most comprehensive 90s available. Not just a Roof Top tent and sliding rear drawer then classing it as an Overlander! This defender is a true one off build, the specification is extensive, fully proven and it is ready to go anywhere right now.
I never dreamt of selling the vehicle so spared no time or money on its evolution. The wife and I plus our dog have travelled comprehensively around Europe and North Africa, without issue of either comfort, reliability or want.
But I have been given a fantastic opportunity to work in North America and a Defender model of this age isn’t allowed into the US. With huge deliberation during the past few months we have decided to sell our pride and joy. Where do I start?.......
At the forefront of my mind before any modifications was: it has to be efficient and intuitive to use and it must look ‘right’. Only the best quality components from recognised manufacturers have been used. By using available space wisely and solar, the 90 is capable of 4-5 days of full autonomy before a resupply is needed. I do not have any pictures of the build/development of the vehicle, never expecting to sell it I didn’t think there was need! The accompanying pictures show the vehicle being used for real.
If you aren’t familiar with Landrover Defender esp Pumas some of the following will make little sense! Either give me a call or have a look online, defender2.net is a great forum where I gained lots of my ideas.
Engine. Puma 2.2 tdci. LR service history while under warranty, by me since. LR recall to replace oil pump completed in 2015. The Bad bits: There aren’t many as I have always corrected any issues ASAP. However as the Landrover has been used for overlanding there are a couple of minor dents and scratches to the paintwork, a dent to the rear top corner above the near side small window and a dent to the near side wing. Both totally cosmetic. One alloy lightly scratch.
There is loads more to this truck than any advert could portray. I have owned it from new, treated with continual mechanical sympathy and it has wanted for nothing.
As you can see the specification is extensive, immaculate very low mileage rare 1 owner Defender 90 2.2 XS. Expedition prepared that benefits from only 42,000 genuine miles. In stunning condition throughout, the bodywork is great, interior immaculate and the chassis/underside is totally corrosion free, the Defender has been cherished from new and no expense spared on its professional build into the ultimate expedition truck. Its not to be missed.
