Rare 4x4 motorhome for sale
Update: This vehicle is now sold and on its way to it's new owner, thank you HU!
After years of overland bike adventures (2 x BMW HP2 Enduro's) we decided to try the comfort of a motorhome but what a challenge! How do you get the comfort of a motorhome without becoming part of the army of the beige and white boxes? Well here's our solution...
A Hymer MLT580 4x4, yes a motorhome but with some differences. It's based on the very capable Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 chassis, we then got it vinyl wrapped matt black the day after buying it. The attention we get with this vehicle wherever we go still continues to surprise us!
Now after 38,000 miles of terrific adventures, on and off road, we reluctantly need to sell our treasured van. As you can expect this vehicle probably won't sell well on a conventional motorhome forum but if we can connect it with some like minded folk, it may find a good home, hence we're here.
It's a UK registered van but left hand drive, powerful 3.0L V6, full winter spec (we have lived in it over two winter seasons in the French Alps), massive garage, 150W solar panel, air suspension and all the luxury goodies you'd expect from a Hymer motorhome.
It was £100,000 plus new, we're looking for £69,000. Sound a lot but don't think of it as a camper, think of it as your second home, a holiday home anywhere you want it to be, that's how we've used it.
If you'd like to know more get in touch...

Looks beautiful.
Is the 4x4 original Mercedes or after market?
Can you please post some pics of the inside?
Thanks

Hi, it is original Mercedes Sprinter 4x4. Even with the lump on the back is it quite capable, got us through mud, thick snow, soft sand and with the triptronic gearbox it handles icy decents too. Here's some pics but if you go on the Hymer website and look up the current MLT580 the layout is the same. We have the double bed kit that transforms the two longitudinal singles into a massive double.

Hi, how possible would it be to get a small bike into the boot? Monkey bike.... Or larger?

No problem at all, the garage door is 1.2m high x 1.0m wide and there is a door on both sides making a through garage.

Forgot to ask what furnace do you have and how do you heat water for shower, is there a diesel based Eberspacher?
Where in the UK is the truck located?
Thanks

The heating is an Alde system based plus two Webasto diesel heaters, one Webasto to boost the heating when you first arrive at the van and the second to heat the engine when its super cold. The Alde system does the water heating and the living area heating which is underfloor heating with a fan booster, with timer and thermostatic control. All this is fuelled by two 13kg propane tanks in the back controlled by a Truma Duo Control CS which switches from one the empty to the full automatically. The Hymer winter package also equips the van with a winter curtain that swings around the back of the rotated front seats to provide extra insulation to the window blinds. We have lived in the van for two winters in the French alps and we would choose this again tomorrow.

The van is currently in the French Alps but we plan bringing it back to the uk in the next two weeks. Back in the UK we are based in South Wales near Crickhowell.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
