The Defender TD5 is a reliable and long standing engine with a great efficiency to it. Our engine does not consume any oil, tires, brakes (ABS), steering and all are very good. Visually, the car is in good nick. Please refer to the photo documentation to get clear picture on the state of things.
PHOTO DOCUMENTATION
We have a foto documentation of the car and all equipment (the ups and the downs) including some videos showing a cold engine start, steering and braking procedures and such – a virtual test drive if you like. If you are interested please contact us and we will send you the CD.
HISTORY OF THE CAR
We purchased the Landy in Germany in 2008 with a mileage of 150.000km in Germany. Although most of the modification at the car were already in place (higher, protections, etc.) it didn`t look like it saw any dirt road before – my guess is it was for show only. We have then rebuilt the interior and apart from driving on German roads did some small vacations in Norway and Iceland where we introduced the Landy to it`s natural habitat (“first blood” so to speak). Having proven that everything was well we then shipped the car in November 2012 to South America. In 3 months we have covered about 15.000 kilometer, maybe half of it on dirt.
Why all these details? We`d like to make clear that the Landy hasn`t run much in bad conditions and this is also what it feels like. It makes a huge difference if a car has done 200.000 km in these countries here or if most of it`s life was spend in good old comfy Europe …

Landy for sale
Hi Andy
my question would be how you want to proceed on the paperwork and numberplates issue. If someone from Europe buys the car, how do you want to get the papers changed on to the new owner and how to organize a new numberplate?
Kannst mir in Deutsch auf claudioangelini [at] gmx [dot] ch antworten.
Cheers
Claudio

Paperwork
Hi Claudio,
sorry for the delay - will send you an email asap. Just for others who might be intersted:
Way to go: Make an official purchase contract (which is what should be done anyway) and have that translated to spanish and approved by a notary of at least by an official looking stamp. With that you will have no problems going around, you simply keep the plates and show the official papers plus the spanish owner transfer.
I'll post you some more info directly.
Nice travels!
Andi

Interested in your Car, Please email me interior pics
Hello,
I am interested in your car for sale around the timeline specified. I am currently in the US and plan to either take my vehicle (a Toyota) or buy one already there. Your car looks great, I am interested in pictures of the interior, Storage / Camping platform.
Also, any information on the transfer paperwork would definitely be appreciated. Luckily I have a friend (in the US) who is from Montevideo and can help be with the paperwork and also storage, since if my plan is delayed, I can buy and have him store the car for me.
Thanks,
Anoop

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
