Toyota Land Cruiser Overland Modified
This is a 1993 Automatic Land Cruiser VX with 1HD 4.2 litre Turbo Diesel.
We bought this car three years ago and we are its third owners.
We modified it for two years to do an overland trip through Africa and South America. The car has been designed to make
a long distance travel with four adults.
We are now in South America and due to change of plans (pregnecy) and earlier finish of the trip, the car is for sale.
The new owner can collect it in South America or we can negotiate a shipment to Europe etc. The car can fit in a 20 ft container.
The car had a full service history before we started doing modifications and since
we’ve been on the trip we are doing all necessary maintenance as advised by Toyota. (filter and oil change every 6,000 miles, etc.)

The car has done 170,000 miles so far.
It is equipped with automatic air-conditioning (though new air-conditioning clutch is needed), front and rear diff locks, electric windows, mirrors, rear fog lights, etc.
We replaced the seats for the maximum space and to accommodate the fridge between the driver and the co driver. The front seats are from Mercedes and the rear ones are from VW Golf.
For the same reason the handles have been removed from the sides of the doors and the all sides have been fitted with the new material.
Flooring has been removed and replaced with the rubber mat for sound proofing and painted with the rubbery paint (for garage floor or slippery stairs) for easy cleaning after off-roading.
Seats include removable seat covers for easy washing.
There are a lot of small bits and pieced that we’ve done on the car before the trip and on the trip that are too hard to remember and it would be boring to write all of them.
With the vehicle we will leave some useful camping and recovery gear, tools and spares. To name some; for recovery we will leave bow shackles, 16 ton rope,ARB tree protector, recovery gloves, high lift jack, winch operating gear and some other recovery items. Camping wise we will leave plastic storage boxes (for food supplies), 4 chairs, gas cooker, table, electric extension lead and other useful stuff. As of tools, there is a grinder with spare cutting and grinding discs, drill, electrical box with fuses and wires and spares for maintaining the car’s electric system, spare bolts and nuts and other similar accessories. And for spares we’ve got spare oil and fuel filters, air filter, timing belt, alternator belt, air-conditioning belt, front disc pads, transmition fluid oil, 3 fire extinguishers, spare alternator, lights and other similar maintenance parts.
