Mechanic in Tashkent - Uzbekistan

Thought I'd add the details of a good mechanic in Uzbekistan. Before riding the Pamir I had a few things I wanted to sort out in my Africa Twin and this guy went out of his way to help me. His details are:

Rustam
+998901683707
N 41° 18.371'
E 069° 10.174'
Center Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

He speaks good English and got me new tyres and welded my pannier brackets. He also can do oil changes and repairs. Parts would need to be shipped in so you need to contact him ahead on Rust.84@mail.ru The biker community is about 50 strong in Tashkent.

Cheers,

Pedro

Rustam's a good guy, also helped me with changing a rear tire and pointed me in the direction of the motul dealer where he gets his oil, the prices he quotes are the same as the shop, so there's no markup.

Motul shop:-
41.263147 69.229593
It's not the cheapest in the world $32 for 2lt of 5100 10W40, but they'll give change in som at a much better rate than you'll get at the market so it sweetens the blow slightly.

New Location

Rustam's got a new shop for his business. GPS location is:

N 41.26702, E 69.249812
phone is +998901683707

u can contact Rustam by Whatsapp, Viber, wechat and FB messenger as well.

He can get you tires and pretty much anything you can possibly need but with an advanced notice (2 weeks).

I couldn't find almost any info on tire availability in central Asia till i found this thread.

This guy is a precious resource for motorcyclists in central Asia.

Hi all,
I used Rustam a month ago and I am still finding faults he has left on my bike. Missing bolts, lose engine mounts, breather pipes not put back. Belly pan bolts missing, filter housing bolt missing. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
