1 week in Andalucia
Just back from a fantastic journey through the mountain passes of Southern Spain.....2 couples on BMW GS1200's looping through the great roads in Andalucia....started off in Seville and spent the first night in Ronda...wherever we could, we spent the nights in the Paradores Hotel chains...the Ronda Paradore is a classic perched right on the 200 metre deep gorge that cuts through the town...onwards the next day on the A-297 down to Marbella..excellent mountain pass with many local knee draggers ripping up the turns on cafe racer bikes. Next day over to Malaga for lunch (boring route on the pay highway) but after lunch some nice folks on a VStrom showed us the way out of town north on a fantastic road that eventually took us to Granada. The Granada Paradore is right in the Alhambra grounds so this was a real highlight of the tour. Great restaurants in the squares of the city...so much history everywhere. Then over some fantastic countryside of olive groves and on to the ancient town of Cordoba. We were lucky and got there during their annual festival (end of May) and the place was very full. We loved seeing many of the local ladies wearing full on flamenco dancer dresses as they walked over to the carnival grounds. Last day was a rip down the highway to Seville.....about 1200km total and bluebird weather all the way...couldn't ask for much more.
