I emailed Merriam Webster about you guys earlier today. They're going to officially remove the current definition of EPIC and just put a link to your link to your blog instead.

Cordoba

Cordoba is a nice city and is famous for the number of churches. There is the large main square with the statue of San Martin as usual in Argentina.

The Cathedral here is very beautiful and inside it spectacular with the gilding. We were here on the weekend so there were services on and so we did not take photos.

An interesting thing they do here with the heritage buildings is to mirror the facade on the cobble street or square outside using marble.

The statue of the founder of the city in 1573.

Also a regular sight in this country is the Maldives are Argentinean signs.

The oldest university here is Jesuit and is over 400 years old.

This is the famous Capuchin church that is very ornate.

There is a large city park here with this centennial sculpture.

No day here is complete without a Malbec.

La Falda

Thanks to Clive we had arranged a place in La Falda to hang out for a month at Walter and Dagmar’s place. It is a short 75 km from Cordoba over the mountains to El Chingolito on Aveneda Las Lomas at the base of the El Dragon mountain.

Walking in town we began to wonder if there might be something strange going on here???

They must get some serious rain here as some of the streets have crossing gates and water gauges.

Hanging out here with the dogs we had time to get caught up on a few chores.

ride over the mountain

Well it has been pouring rain and thunder and lightening for the last 4 days so we were happy not to be riding. The sun finally did come out and we took a trip up over the mountains and came back on a great off road route. Also joining us was Peter who is just finishing up a 3-month trip to South America.

First there was the hairpin, but paved Camino Cuadrado over the mountain towards Cordoba, but then you make a left turn towards Salsipuedes and then a left onto the gravel towards Candonga.

There were a few water crossings as well.

A lot of the “road” was like a washed out riverbed and also with some steep sections and tight corners.

There is a beautiful valley with an old estancia and church on the way, but nothing else and we saw only 3 cars.

Peter had a small dirt nap after a patch of deep mud.

Bratwurst

Depsite the fact that it looke like rain today we opted to head south to the “german town” of General Belgrano. We did not take the 125 km direct route on the RN 38, but the windy scenic route.

La Falda 32 by Worldwide Ride.ca, on Flickr

One of the water crossings was too deep for the cars.

This route takes you along several lakes too and on one there was a hydroelectric plant with a massive amount of water flowing over it.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
