Germany -> World - together on one cylinder, with almost no stuff
Hey fellow travellers,
my Greek Girlfriend Elli (26) and I (29) are starting our trip around the world at the end of may. We will be riding together on one Yamaha XT660Z Ténéré. So that makes half a cylinder per person ! We will be focussing on minimalism, as our space is pretty limited and keeping away from the standard roads, as we love to dig deep into foreign cultures.
We quit our residence, our jobs, sold everything we possessed including all these very German insurances and put everything on one card for our trip. My girlfriend speaks fluent russian and is adding spanish so we should be able to provide you with a lot of insider informations about the people in the countries we visit.
As for the route: We want to cross the balkans to turkey and Iran, take the renowned Pamir-Highway through the STANS and cross Kazakhztan, Russia and Mongolia to the lake Baikal. From there on we will plan the rest of our trip very flexible. We will just drive and see where the adventure takes us.
If you want you can follow us on Motorrad Weltreise - Horizonride - Immer Richtung Horizont! in German, or on Cover Page - Horizonride - around the world with a XT660Z Ténéré! in English! My girlfriend is a photographer and I am an author, so we will try to provide you with awesome photos and entertaining travelogues. We'd love to hear from you and maybe we see each other on the road :-)!
Save travels and cheers, Elli & Ben

Great... A dream coming true.
A couple of years ago I used to travel with my girlfriend in a similar motorcycle through South America (XT660R) and it was awesome. I have for sure you both gonna have a good experience. Have a nice trip and enjoy.

Hello there,
good website, I wish you all the best for your ride.
The hardest day will be the day you leave home, and the second hardest day will be the day you return there and you realise that nothing much has changed, but you have changed totaly.
Pls keep us up to date here on the Hubb, you could copy/paste an english ride report here.
See you, when you get to Bolivia

New articles about our finances and sponsoring
Hey guys,
I updated our website with two articles about our finances and the sponsorships we got and how you can get this kind of support, too.
We hope it'll be helpful for you and a fun read!
english: Preparation - Horizonride - around the world with a XT660Z Ténéré!
german: Vorbereitung - Horizonride - Immer Richtung Horizont!
Feedback, questions and comments are very welcome as always :-)!
best wishes, Elli & Ben
@Klaus: thanks for the invite/help! Still not sure about Japan because of the high travel costs but if we do, we'll surely contact you !

Hey guys,
after quitting our jobs, selling all our stuff, we are finally 3 weeks into our adventure and now in Konya, Turkey.
We already crashed, lost the cover of our pannier, got stung by hornets and above all have a great time, enjoying our freedom and the fact that everyday brings new adventures and never gets boring.
If you want to know more about our way through Europe and Turkey, you can read it here:

All the best from Konya, Elli&Ben

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
