Reached Ushuaia in June!
Hey folks!
I finally managed to arrive in Ushuaia on June 8th! After 194 days and 29 220km across 16 countries! Leaving from my hometown of Montréal!
I had planed to arrive in late April, but crossing the continent creates all kinds of enjoyable detours and distractions that end up taking more time (ie. Colombia!)
I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get to Ushuaia after all, and I've been riding in about 3°C weather since mid-Patagonia. But I was lucky on the Paso Garibaldi coming in as it was around 0°C which avoided me any ice, although snow was all along the side of the road.
Only problem now is that it's been snowing all day and the weather dropped well below freezing even here in town (-4°C during the day) and I might be stuck here until better weather, which at this time of the year is pretty tricky..!
I will try to make an attempt to get back out on Friday, as it should go up to 2°C, which I'm hoping can translate into 0°C in the Paso..!
I feel like a kid that climbed up a tall tree, and then can't go back down after reaching the summit.. hehe
At least, I know that Ushuaia CAN be reached in June.. though getting out takes another bundle of luck!
Cheers!
Jimmy
