"Suddenly, the fog (but not the rain) ended, and Seda lay before us, nestled high in the mountains. It was a scene from a fairy tale. There were perhaps a thousand small red wooden houses tightly packed into the hillsides along winding streets, with a huge gold-domed Buddhist temple anointing the crest of the range we were climbing. I was blown away by the magnificence of it all. I wanted to stop right there to get a photo, it was a great vantage point, and the lighting was perfect. But we kept going, and we entered Seda. I was amazed that prior to this ride I had never even heard of Seda. Its beauty was both shocking and incomparable. I’m not carelessly using adjectives here; I had never seen nor imagined anything like this. Seda looked like a place I should inhabit for a month or more just to walk around photographing things. It was visually arresting. It made me wonder how many more places there might be in the world this beautiful that I had never heard about. I realized that even though I’ve been around the block a few times, it’s a big world and there are still amazing discoveries to be made by those who are willing to get out and look for them. Once again, I could hear the soundtrack from Raiders of the Lost Ark playing in my mind. Indiana Jones was alive and well. He was riding an RX3 high up on the Tibetan plateau that morning."
