56 yr old bike!!
Gents,
I am beginning to plane to ride the following from Australia through Asia, to Europe (Munich) where it was built then back down through the west of Africa and around to the Mid east, the Stans, Mongolia and down toward Australia again. On a BMW R50/3 1954 model!
The trip is yet in the very early days of preparation and need to talk with some people who have done the same route, but if there is anyone who is interested in the same please let me know.
Cheers
Ivan

New one too!
Hey Dodger, Henry
I must confess, I am at present riding a new R1200GS (2004) down through the east of Africa. To tell you the truth, I have had problems with this that BMW don't want a bar of, failed suspension, failed rims etc. I am just a single rider who is not a movie star or can give that German company free press etc so really us small guys don't count when it comes to getting warranty. Anyway, I would have it no other way to tell the truth, some of us do it for the ride not to sell videos and exploit what some people actually enjoy.
Anyway, the R50 I am beginning to believe will do this, and I can fix it myself on the side of the road if need be. Henry, This is not a race, so get that 250 out of mothballs and join me, it would be good to have another old bike along as well mate. Am looking at this for 2010 I think at present.
Thanks guys.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
