fcasado is right on - search works a treat - but also no, there is no dedicated Romania page, like there is for about 25 other countries, which is all we've got done so far. (Trip Planning index page, menu on left)

If someone wants to write one, I'd be delighted to post it - same goes for ANY country information, or any motorcycle travel related information at all. I just don't have time to research and write it (I'm sure you're all much more interested in an all-new singing and dancing HUBB ) - but we're always happy to have volunteers help out.

bonzo,

i did a four week round trip to romania a couple of years ago - what exactly did you want to know?

you'll get most of what you need about where to go and places to stay from one of the regular guidebooks (i used lonely planet).

the people are very friendly and love bikes (i guess they don't see that many big bikes) and everything is dead cheap. i had a bit of difficulty with the bike and a couple of local machanics fixed it and wouldn't charge me!

the locals drive like madmen - take care on blind corners - and the police have speed checkpoints on the main roads into the country - i got done!

bucharest isn't beautiful but transylvania is. email me if there's specific things that you want to know.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
