Anyone been to Mauritania lately
Wondering what the story is regarding traveling to and from Mauritania via Morocco. Any hassle, kidnapping or anything else I should know about!?
Anywhere good to go in Mauritania? Been to Morocco loads of times and fancy going a bit further. This time I'm going on a ktm 950 which should be fun.

Hi Mike
Looks like the FCO are suggesting it's not the best place to plan to travel to right now: Mauritania travel advice
I'm planning to go to Morocco via Portugal in September and had hoped to take a trip down the coast to Nouadhibou and maybe Nouakchott. I guess it's still a 'fluid' situation so still in two minds but the FCO are usually pretty accurate.

I was planning a trip down there and a bit further but am now reconsidering given the situation there; it si not just ourselves, but one has to consider the effect on one's family of a kidnapping and also the risk to any rescuers (although I believer as UK nationals, our lives are too cheap for the Govt to bother with...).
Might head east instead or just stick to Morocco and Western Sahara...
