Dear All,
Used to organise this event, which started in 2006 and was loosely termed the Applecross CHAS Weekend.
Children's Hospice Association Scotland were the recipients of all funds raised.
The general idea, to gather as many friends as possible, to muster at the Point of Origin and ride to Applecross. It used to be that, we rode from Crieff to Lochcarron on the Saturday, overnighted in one of the hotels or B&B's in Lochcarron, mustered again Sunday morning and rode over the Bealach Na Ba on Sunday.
Lunch at the Applecross Inn - courtesy of Judith the Benevolent and thereafter, dispersed and rode home.
April......think No traffic, No midges, camp sites quiet, wide (?!) open roads!
Any further info, please contact me by email -
mainescots@gmail.com putting Applecross in subject box.
See you there!?
Oh....... All bikes welcome.....
Charity for 2015.......undecided as yet....... Any preferences? UNICEF, Children's Diabetes, Cancer Research to name just a few?
Please Note, this is NOT a massed ride-out! This is a Destination Ride from wherever you might live, hopefully with friends who ride like you, who you know and trust!!
Applecross is not near to any of the big population centres and the Bealach is not for beginners. 12-odd miles of single track road, where if you meet a car, you can only, just, squeeze past.
Great fun though!
We used, used to ride the route there and back from Crieff a week in advance, just to make certain the roads were the same, the gas stations - open, the cafe's in their usual place.
206 miles from Crieff
201 from Glasgow
248 from Edinburgh (unless you WANT to go the A9?!?!?)
