Belgium in October
Looking to spend 4 days travelling from calais to the Ardennes
Any one recommend routes , places to stay and visit

Can't comment on the route from Calais but I have stayed at the Hotel Melba in Bastogne twice (it was a Best Western). When I was there the hotel was good. Bastogne is a good place to visit and there are some good roads around there as you head to Luxembourg

You would have to explain why you want to spend 4 days on that journey; it can be done in about the same number of hours.
Calais to Mons is about 2 hours, and Mons is about 1/2 way to Bastogne.
So, for me, I would get there and then enjoy the area of the Ardennes - anywhere, up and down the border of Belgium/Germany and the vicinity.
e.g. Monschau (spelling?).

It's a long time to spend in Belgium, as already mentioned but if you're thinking of having a look at Bruges then the Boat Hotel De Barge, moored on the main canal is excellent.

I haven't explained myself
I was looking for an interesting route to say la roche en Ardennes from calais
For day one
Then routes for days 2 to 3 in Ardennes
Day 4 return to calais

Any good hotels with bike security would be good

That very much depends on your interests; for me, I would pass by the WW1 battlefield sites and tip my hat to various places there. By "interesting" you might mean twisty roads, in which case most people hold the opinion that there aren't any in northern France/west Belgium.

As Tourider mentioned Bruges is really nice with all the canals and plenty of historical buildings to look at if you are into that sort of thing.

Ypres is also a good place to visit for a war memorial site. Think there is a local market there every Sat and again nice bars and cafe's to chill out in.

I've been to Bruges several times but always to a bike rally held this weekend so always camped.

The only hotel I've stayed in Belgium was a cheap F1 hotel in Gent earlier this year on route to Croatia which was around 40 euro per room and sleeps 3.

Near there are both Spa Francorchamp and the Nurburgring if motor sport is of interest.
Also, the Eiffel area which has loads of undulating, well surfaced roads.

There is also Dinant on the river Meuse - that bit of Belgium is nicknamed little Switzerland for the general landscape.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
