Best way to norway from uk

Thinking about heading back to Norway next month (Sep 2010) I want to make Nordkamp if possible, I did this trip in June 2008. We used Newcastle to Stavanger with DFDS last time. What are my best options now, I live in Scotland, thanks for info/advice.

I have thought of a trip to Nordkapp myself but was advised to do it around June due to the weather, I have found this a usefull site.

I did it in October '08 but only as far as the circle. It pissed down the whole way up and sunny the whole way down..!! Being wet doesn't normally bother me but the inability to dry out kit in the evenings was a pain.

I took the Hull - Stavanger ferry, I live in Edinburgh. The only other option was the ferry to Rotterdam and heading to Germany for a ferry there and incurring more expense and time of which I didn't have.

I think from Hirtshals in Denmark is probably your next best option, this is a relatively short and therefore inexpensive ferry.

From Germany is long crosing so more expensive.

I'll second June as a good time; I used Newcastle - Stavanger ferry, coming south from Scotland.

Magnificent country, Norway. Magnificent prices too.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
