Canada to South America
After saying for years that I had no interest in motorcycle riding outside of North America, I find myself planning a trip to South America this year. I have a few data points—places I want to visit, things I want to do—but mostly, the agenda is open, including end date and destination.
I'm leaving from Orangeville, Ontario around August 1 and will spend approx. 3 months in Canada/US (mostly) before heading into Mexico and further south. There's no set time for me to be back, I'm thinking a year, but that could change.
Really looking forward to it. But first, I'll get a better concept of what I need to do to plan and prepare - without overdoing it! Am starting here with this forum.

Lot of info here on HUBB ... and elsewhere. I'd start reading current ride reports and taking notes. You'll probably learn a few things and get ideas of regions and specific places that peak your interest. Of course ... once on the road all can change. Hopefully you'll find some places no one ever heard of!
But with a wide open schedule ... you'll be the envy of many! Enjoy! Ride Safe!
.. oh, here is one TIP: Learn a bit of Spanish!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
