Cheapest route from Turkey through Europe

Hi
I'm at the tail end of a year and half riding through Africa. Have given up waiting (5 weeks) for a Libya transit visa here in Egypt and preparing to return home through E Europe. Up through Macedonia, Albania and Croatia seems attractive until I realised its the middle of the holiday season on the Adriatic coast. I am looking for advice on an alternative route home (Ireland, via UK) - cheap food, accom, etc. Bulgaria, Romania?
Thanks
Hugh

greetings from Egypt

hi
well im still waiting for my visas too,and have some problems to get (Tunisian visa )pfffffffffff
regarding cheap route ,
as you said it is the high season now
so i think if you were (riding -driving ) for that long you msy ride to Antalya ( south Turkey ) and ferry boat to Ancona or Brendizi or to Venice (Italy )
you may call me as you are in Egypt and you may pass by in Alexandria to chill out

Antalya

If you find yourself in my neck of the woods look me up, a bed and a meal plus a few beverages are all yours gratis.

There is a boat from Marmaris (1 day from Antalya)to Italy which is reasonable for bikes and a bunk

Am on the road towards Syria no thanks to those lying, cheating extortionists in Nuweiba who hit me for an extra LE 571. I believe Chris Scott's advice for bringing a vehicle into Egypt was... don't. I now understand. Ok, won't go on about that, meant to say thanks Omar. Not in dire straits guys, though appreciate the offers. Not much fun travelling through countries where the daily spend is on the uncomfortable side. Thinking Bulagaria, Romania. Info welcome Simon. Cheers
Hugh

I would not recommend Albania.Petrol 1.60euros a litre, no camping so hotels only, terrible roads, terrible driving, and nothing noteworthy to see.Just MHO after having just been through it.The Adriatic coast is lovely to ride, but there are plenty of motorhomes and caravans on the roads at the moment. The ferry idea sound good if you are in a hurry.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
