Ferry to Mexico?
I am considering a trip to Mexico in May. I know a couple of years ago, there was a ferry running from Tampa to the Yucatan. I belive they are no longer running. I only have 3 weeks and would like to see as much of Mexico as possible. Does anyone know of any other ferrys from the US to the Yucatan or other parts of Mexico?

With only three weeks to work with it should be possible to do a decent bit of Mexico if you make a mad dash across to the TexMex border .I can usually do it in 4 long riding days from Ontario so from NC you should be looking at about 3 , less if you really push it on the Interstates.. That wil still give you 2 weeks for Mexico. Good enough for a loop down the east coast to Veracruz and west up Mex 150 Libre, around Mexico DF ,Teotihuacan ruins and pyramids then up the center back to the US . The trick is to pace yourself, if time runs out you will still be within a 2 day ride of the US.There is enough to see and keep you entertained for lots more time . Think about including highway Mex 85 either direction which is really a great bike road from Ciudad Valles south and then spectacular south of Tamazunchale . Maybe cut across to San Luis Potosi and then north back to Texas . This will give a good cross section of Mexico- hot coastal area, tropical forests, deserts.
All the ferries from Florida turned out to be poorly organized flops, the market is not there yet.

They stopped running in the Fall of 2004 and have not resumed. Thanks anyway.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
